So that’s it, my Internet experience this evening has been ruined by something apparently beyond my control. It could be the Slammer worm still playing silly buggers with everyone’s bandwidth, but I have a feeling it’s NTL being pants again. Either way, I’m off to bed.
Google goes Crap
January 27th, 2003Gah, I’m trying to search Google for images and text and suchlike, and the entire thing is crawling. It seems to be an intermittent slowdown on Google’s part, but AltaVista was suffering as well at one point. Perhaps it’s another version of the ‘Slammer’ worm doing the rounds. I’ve just got hald a page of thumbnails and half a page of
’s, dammit.
Flash Fumbling…
January 27th, 2003Looks like the rest of my day is going to be spent fumbling around in Flash – I’m trying to produce an animation for a clubbing/DJ site and, quite frankly, I can’t stand Flash. It seems really illogical to me, but then I usually only deal with database websites. I’ve got the idea of creating a scene of a dance-floor with people bopping all over, jiggling and wotnot. If I can get the first dancer done, the rest will be easy…
Monday Morning update…
January 27th, 2003I spent late last night scrabbling around the Intarweb to learn how to write a bit of PHP (I don’t normally touch it, as a rule) that would drag Lottery results straight off my Lottery Site. I finally got the code working sometime after midnight, enabled PHP on the server and ran it and… it worked! Excellent! This morning I added a few lines to the webmasters page detailing how to get the latest results off the server using PHP or MS-ASP. Job well done!
