World of Warcraft Updates - what a farce!

Now I understand the thinking behind the p2p approach of the World of Warcraft updates distribution scheme, but is it really friggin' necessary to piss your customers off this much? I mean come on, we're paying up to £9.00 a month for this, and get a patch roughly every two weeks - how much would 100MB of bandwidth actually cost you per user per per month? 5p? 10p?

While I appreciate the fact that you only allow users of the latest version to play, and because of this, most of the playing population would hammer the download servers over a period of 48 hours from the patch being made available, isn't that what load balancing is for? We're paying you clowns - and I'm looking at you, Blizzard - a terrific amount of money month after month for the priviledge of playing this thing, so why not plough some of it into the distribution infrastructure?

As if it wasn't bad enough with the authentication servers falling over on a weekly basis, or the billing system going haywire, or people simply getting booted in-game, we have to sit and wait for these incredibly slow downloads to update the damned thing just so we can rush headlong into the next bout of Blizzard incompetance.

Dammit, might as well have a beer while I'm waiting...
