Spammers mailing under my domain...
11:33.10 - Sunday 10th April 2005 (Link to This Entry)
Dammit, if it's not one thing it's another!
I fired up the machine this morning to check my email and do a little bit of work before playing on World of Warcraft for a wee while, and found eighty five messages - almost all bounce-backs - waiting for me. How lovely!
It seems it's finally my turn to be on the receiving end of imposter-spam - messages that were sent out as if they'd come from one of my domains when in fact they haven't. Hidden in the detritus are genuine messages to my domain alongside things like 'Your message was blocked!' (thanks!) and 'Stop spamming this address, cocksucker' (Woo!). It's not a particularly nice way to start my Sunday.
And who the hell is Simon Hutchinson anyway? Apparently the majority of the email has been sent out in his name, from my domain name, and I'm receiving the bounces accordingly at simonhutchinson@mydomain.com - frickin' great!
The spam ads are for cheapo software - OEM versions of stuff for waaay-below-retail prices. I'm sure you've all seen them before, and generally I just hit the 'Block' button on SpamFighter, but this time I can't really ignore it.
I notice that a lot of the bounces are for people who's email accounts are full - I feel sorry for those guys.
Phil's Monster Z80 Project!

It's alive and well - Mr.Foo has gone completely off his rocker and decided to build his own computer from a Z80 and various bits and pieces he had kicking about. What a loon! A Z80 with an Amiga-style bitmaps system? Has the world gone topsy turvy?
Read all about it here - just click on 'Tech Wibble' and it's right at the top.

Little trick for you - using T9 predictive text, tap out the word 'Smirnoff' on your mobile phone.
