Still waiting for my copy of World of Warcraft to drop through the letterbox - I was hoping it would arrive today but, alas, it was not to be. I shall pass the time by downloading and installing Windows XP64 RC2 courtesy of Microsoft. Judging by the demand and the fact that I'm getting a steady 178k a second, MS must have more bandwidth than God.
Yesterday was another first for me - the first time I had been stuck in traffic because of the weather. Seems a truck broke down somewhere further up the road, which meant it took me an hour and a half to travel the length of the M181 - a trip that normally takes a little under two minutes.
I got off that stretch of road eventually and having called M to find out what the problem was (ie the truck), I took a different route to work, which turned out to be a lot better than waiting in another bloody queue of traffic. At one point I was glad to have my packed lunch, since I thought I might be staying the night.
The past couple of days I've been working on some artwork to go on the side of a building. There are four images in two different sizes, with the larger ones measuring 3.68x2.76m. Even at a piddling 72dpi these are quite monstrous things to be working on and my poor laptop is feeling the strain. Saving the multi-layered files out from Photoshop takes anything up to six minutes (yes, just to save it) and every action seems to take a stab at the Windows swapfile. My poor laptop only (!) has 1GB of memory, so this happens quite often.
I'm currently burning the various images to a DVD ready to post tomorrow. I'll be glad to see the back of them.
Windows XP64

Installed just like the normal version of Windows, and looks just the same - bright and colourful. I desktop is extended over both monitors as before and.. that's about it really, nothing to report as yet. Build version is 3790 (Service Pack 1, v.1433). Browser ID string is Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; WOW64; SV1).
For some reason, one of the monitors has reset back to its defaults, which means it's waaaay brighter than the other. Curses.
