Workin' like a Dawg...

12:27.47 - Sunday 19th December 2004   (Link to This Entry)

I got a call from a lady I'd spoken to a couple of times in the past who has found herself at odds with the people she'd got to do the website, including a program to run on her agents' laptops so that they could show that instead of carting hundreds of products around with them.

The work they'd done to far was absolutely abysmal - a collection of hundreds of HTML files on a CD that had to be installed into IIS running on the laptops. In addition, the current website needed completely redoing since it was unable to take orders, so there was a fair amount to do.

But the agents to back to work on January 5th. Eep!

I got Booday in to handle the laptop side of things while I hammered away getting the website working. Both sides are progressing remarkably well, considering that Saturday was really our first full day on it. The product database is online and I have a menuing system done, while BB has a great deal of presentation done as well.

We're both at the point now where we can start getting our respective halves displaying products in categories and pages. We have shopping carts to implement, and some kind of server/laptop synchronisation will have to be done, but all in all it's speeding along. In addition, I have to get a secure certificate/connection implemented, plus payment processing using Protx.

I did eleven hours straight on this yesterday. Huzzah.
