Bit of a crap day today. It started when I tried to do a backup of the laptop last night sometime, and the HD went kaput again. I fished it out, stuck it into the desktop again and scanned it... again. Got it working and actually managed to pull off all of my work and pretty much all of my other valuable/useful info into the bargain.

Then I reformatted it.

At about 06:30 I gave up, almost screaming in frustration at the fcuking thing, and went to bed. By 08:30 (no, not a typo) I was out again and off to PC World to get me a new harddrive. Huzzah! Nothing like freezing your nads off waiting for a store to open and spending money you don't want to spend at the same time. Only PC World didn't have any, and in the end I had to suffer the indignity of freakin' Maplin Electronics, who charged £25 more than anyone else but at least had the damned things in stock.

I've spent all day installing stuff and copying my work back over from the 20GB laptop drive that I'd used for backup. I've actually done rather well but it has still taken the whole day to get things mostly back to normal, and it's only a miracle that absolutely no customers have rung with urgent stuff for me to do. Small mercies, I thank ya.

On the plus side, my new Fujitsu S7000 arrived, complete with 2.2GB MicroDrive. That kept me awake pretty much all day as I had a play about with it in between installs and reboots. More on that another day, however.
