Just Catching Up...

The level of spam coming into my work address has reached such a level that I've changed the address. Let me recap: I currently have two email addresses on my works domain - one which catches everything and another that has specific aliases set up to prevent stuff going into the first account. The catchall serves as a spam bin and the other account filters stuff into my inbox.

Previously, info@mydomain was being filtered into my inbox, but I've removed that (and a couple of others) because there was so much crap coming in. I've told everyone relevent my new address and ditched the old one seven days later. Now if anyone does write to the old address, it will still go through my spam box, but they'll have to wait a while until I check it.

I've taken the plunge and ordered myself a Dell Axim X30. M and I had discussed the possibility of me purchasing a TomTom GO satellite navigation package for the car, but I wanted a PDA. TomTom 3 is available for PDAs so I figured I'd go this route and get the best of both worlds for about £50 more than the cheapest GO price I'd found. I've gone for the highest-spec Axim as well, the 624Mhx CPU with WiFi and Bluetooth.

Hunting around eBay there are a few bits I would like to get for it, like a proper charging cradle for the car and maybe a better GPS unit (there's even a bluetooth one available), but I'll take my time in choosing those bits. A hard cover for the Axim is a must and the metal ones are available for about £15, so I will probably go for one of those as well.

I figure that, instead of spending £££'s (In Ur Spare Time!!11) on a custom-built machine for my next desktop, I'll probably just order a decent spec Dell. If I can get a decent TFT elsewhere, rather than paying Dell's insane prices, then I will do. I feel I need 1600x1200 and at least 19 inches (fnaar!) for a works machine monitor, since my laptop is already 1400x1050, and going down a resolution seems silly.

M had her first go on eBay this week as well, putting a few shirts online that we had acquired. I put a nice bit of HTML together and showed her how to edit it, do her images in Photoshop LE and upload using SmartFTP and she's taken to it like a duck to water, albeit with a bit more splashing and quacking than usual. Someone's bid 99p on one of them, and she's off!
