We had the car serviced yesterday but told the garage to hold off doing all the repairs because we wanted to shop around for prices. M went to collect it and found they'd actually replaced a split turbo hose, and after some discussion she got the cost knocked off, so my car now runs lovely once more - huzzah!

There's still some stupid bits like tires, wipers and mirrors to get sorted, plus something to do with the back brakes, but we can get those done on the cheap.

A new web design company has started in our local area, fronted by an attractive woman (by all accounts anyway - I've not met her) and run from home using a hosting company for their web services - all done on the cheap but with nice presentation. They've managed to poach a job that we went after and one consequence is that we have to move the website over to another server.

The lady in question called me this morning and, while she's nice enough to speak to, it's obvious that she doesn't really have a clue when it comes to stuff like DNS. Any incompetence in the eyes of the company she's poached is great, and because we've played it nice up till now (while giving the newcomers only the minimum of information of course) we'll look like the Knights in Shining ArmorÖ if things go pear-shaped and we have to rescue them.

It's certainly brightened my day, at least!
