Oh balls...

Seems I did forget to copy something after all - the mysql satabases for all the websites I have on the go. Every. Single. One. This isn't necessarily a major hassle because the sites are all in a state of development anyway, but it's a nuicanse this morning because I have a meeting tomorrow to demo a website and I've got to re-enter all the test data I was using. Thankfully the online version already had this in and I can just copy it all down. Phew!

MySQL itself isn't behaving on the laptop as nicely as I thought it would. For some reason I can't connect to the mysql server if I have a password specified in my connection string, even though there is one specified in the .ini file - WTF? So I'm logged in as root with no frickin' password - great! It'll have to do until I've had the meeting tomorrow because I can't afford to waste any more time scratching my head over it. Where's that firewall again?

I downloaded the latest firmware for the router and the latest drivers for the WiFi card as well - at least that all went OK. Again, I am currently running wide open as I've yet to configure the router - no WEP keys, no MAC filters, nothing. I'll probably see to that bit next...

So much to do - I can't believe it's going to take me the best part of a weekend to get back up to speed. Tank feck the phone isn't likely to ring, that's all I can say.

Bah, Summer's here.

With the new double-glazing in the office upstairs is absolutely unbearable at times. I've dug out the fan and assembled as much as I could, but the plasic loop that holds the front grill in place is broken, exposing the spinning fan just enough to catch careless elbows and the like. While the temperature is bearable with the fan on, the sunlight gives me a headache. Hence I am in the bedroom at the back of the house for now.

This year also sees the European Cup football thingummybob. Euro '94 is due to kick off over the coming months and the advertisers on TV are already jockeying amongst themselves to sell you more crap you don't need. Possibly the stupidest one so far is Davie Seaman playing with a football in an ad for Curry's - WTF has that got to do with football? They advertised a frickin' lawnmower for feck's sake!

I've pretty much decided to avoid the TV over summer anyway. Currently I'm reading The Running Man by Ste.. uh.. Richard Bachman, having finished off the other novels in the same 'all-in-one' volume. That ought to keep me off the streets and out of trouble.
