Windows (non)Update

Seems it was a problem with Microsoft yesterday, as this story at The Inquirer suggests. I can't help thinking that releasing six patches at once, and then telling the whole world about them contributed somewhat to the effect, with everyone and his dog giving Bill's servers a thorough thrashing.

Nokia 6230 - Incoming!

Checked my order status today with Mobile Shop and the phone was posted this morning shortly after 9am - finally! Delivery should be tomorrow, which is good as I received my Bluetooth adapter this morning abd go that installed ready. I can't wait!

I have a couple of other purchases I want to make and then I should be all set: A nice fat MMC card for storing data (256MB or greater) and a HDW-2 Bluetooth hands free, then I should be all set. I'm also investigating various in-car holders - just cheapo plastic things.

Domains... domains...

Damned things. It's not the domains per se, but the companies who hold them and who appear totally unwilling to relinquish them, despite it being the express wish of the people who own the damned things.

Currently I am struggling with NetBenefit and NamesCo who both charge release fees. It doesn't help that the .UK system is handled using a dodgy system of faxes and the like - pretty easy to spoof and steal a domain if you can get it onto the right tag.

At least it isn't YELL.COM - GAH!
