Getting there...

The restaurant site is progressing well now, with the public side of it nearing completion. Restarting this morning I found a few $_SESSION related mistakes that wouldn't have cropped up last night unless I'd quit the browser, but they were easily rectified and things trundled along.

The user can now create an account which lets them request rooms. It checks to see how long you can have the room for, subject to other bookings and a 7-night maximum, and plonks them in another table linked via your account record no. Hopefully I'll have the admin area done over the weekend and the site will be approaching 'live' status early next week.
Most of the hard work on this site has not been the PHP or MySQL, but the damned design of the thing, getting it to work in other browsers. Netscape and IE both handle DIVs differently, and getting it to work in both was a minor pain. It didn't help that my client came along and asked me to centre the main area in the display either - not after I'd hardcoded things in relation to the left edge of the screen, and which would now appear all over the shop on different width browser windows. Argh!
M won't be pleased...

I managed to find out where M had been hiding my Egg card long enough to blunder onto Play.com and pre-order Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Version ready for when it ships sometime in March. I never actually got round to trying the 2003 version because I was slightly put off by the (supposed) machine specs, but - as regglar folks will know - I've been playing the 2004 demo with a few peeps online and it's pretty awesome.
I have been mooching around for a GeForce4Go to replace the 2Go in the laptop, however - it would be nice to pump up the graphics capabilities of this machine so that there isn't as much lag when I'm hosting an Onslaught game.
