OK, it's been a few days...

I've been given a shedload of work to get done and out of the way before we can start on a lovely big site. Granted we may not actually get it, but it would swell the coffers if we did and so I've got to get moving on outstanding stuff to pave the way for it. A large lump sum up front and some cash in the bank at the end of it all it just what the
I spent the weekend wielding a hammer and crowbar, taking the kitchen apart piece by piece in preparation for the new one, installation of which starts this afternoon. Some of the cupboards I removed were decidedly sticky - caked in years of filth from chip-pan fumes and suchlike. We loaded most of it into the back of the car and took it down to the tip, so we've only got the worktops and sink unit remaining here now.
I feel I'm not going to be able to do the software project I was offered simply because of theh lack of time. I got the underlying database structure working without too much hassle but it's all the human intereactive stuff that I don't have a clue on. It's a pity though because I would love to do it and earn even more cash.
We went over the Doncaster the other night to pick up a Dyson DC05 Vacuum cleaner - Grimsby's Sainsburys having sold out and Scunthorpe not having one. M gave the living room carpet a going over after she cleaned it with the current machine, and still managed to collect the mother of all furrballs. The damned thing is so powerful it was pulling the carpet up.
I've just had my first go on BitTorrent, downloading a 2.6GB(ish) file in under 11 hours. It's currently clicking away at 80k/second and should be finished in about 30 minutes. Pretty Impressive! I'm currently using this experimental client so I can throttle the uploads easily, and it works very well indeed. It uses the 3.2 codebase rather than the latest 3.3, but that's kinda irrelevent for a BT n00b like myself.
We've had a mad bit of weather over the weekend too, with hail, snow, rain and lots of wind. Consequently the office is bloody freezing this morning and my body heat has caused loads of condensation on with window - roll on that double-glazing! In fact, screw that, just get Summer started already!
