It's not just Microsoft...

After updating the webserver FTP service on the Sun/Cobalt RaQ 550 server that we use, I find it's no longer working. Turning it off and back on again in the services panel doesn't fix it, and nor does rebooting the entire server. I've posted a plea for help to the Cobalt Developers List and I'll probably get in touch with Easily themselves later tonight if I don't get an answer back.
So! It appears it's not just Microsoft who release patches that break things - Sun are having a go themselves. Thankfully it's a weekend and I'm not going to require FTP access at all (that I can think of) until Monday - hopefully I'll have an answer of some kind by then.

Taking a tip from this forum thread, I changed the port in /etc/proftpd.conf from 21 to 1021 and that has fixed things for now. Hopefully Sun will get their arses into high gear now, and get a revised and working patch out the door sharpish. I'm going to have to keep an eye on things for the next few days until this is sorted.
