"See you Next Year!"

Thankfully, nobody came out with that one this time around. I managed to spend a nice peaceful New Year's Eve at home, mostly on my own, without being dragged round to people's houses and forced to eat, drink and be merry and all that, although I did have to go out just before midnight, wait for the fireworks to erupt (this has only happened since the Millennium, because people suck) and then knock on the door while carrying a lump of coal and some money. I have no idea why.
So anyway, it's 2004. "Don't forget to put 04 on your cheques!" is something else I've managed to avoid. Rather than the severe Ice and Snow we were

Slapped another layer of Council Colour on the walls today in an effort to cover those damned triangles, and it seems to have worked to some extent. I'm going to have to go over them with the roller tomorrow to give the daubed area that luvverly roller-speckled finish, but the two walls we've done should look pretty good.
While I can't see the diamonds, I can see the edges of them, because whoever had the bright idea of painting the room with such a horrible pattern also managed to somehow have one layer of paint a fraction of a millimeter thicker than the other, hence there are a few 'pointy bits' picked out in bas-relief here and there.
Once that's done, we can shift the furniture about and get at the other two walls, then we can burn the snot-coloured carpet, put some laminate down and get the place looking more like a computer room and less like the dreams from a raving lunatics worst nightmare. Or something.
