Net Farce

Huzzah for the ability to spread FUD at the click of a 'Forward' button! Four emails cautioning me against the perils of the JDBG Virus... and then anote five emails dismissing it as a hoax - there's hope for humanity yet!

And on a related note, the ending of Tom Clancy's Net Force: Night Moves turned out to be rushed out load of crap, so I'm marking it down a point to 6/10. "Must Try Harder".

My cookies!

Strange one here and no mistake. I'm using Cookies to handle a fair bit of user data and I wonder if I've got too much going on in the way of cookie names, or simply too many of the damned things altogether. Too many cookies in the jar? Whatever.

Some of my cookies are randomly going missing when I do things with them. Sometimes it's a name dropping out, other times it's the date cookie going AWOL. There's no real rule to it and when they are there, they persist after I quit the browser.

Perhaps it's just IIS or Internet Explorer being stupid. I'll give it a good going over and see if I can't fix it somehow.

Cookies all gone!

Garn. I have no idea what was causing the cookies problem but I suspect that it was, indeed, related to the sheer number I had going, so I've abandoned that approach and instead knocked up a wee table to hold all the Name, Menu and Accommodation information about the guests.

Now the only cookies I have are the date of the visit, the number of nights required and a unique reference number so that I know which guests to drag out of the database. I think that's it. Should be a damned site more reliable now, anyway.

On a (completely un-)related note, we've just had the brats from up the street come round Trick or Treating - a full 11 days before All Hallow's Eve. it's not just Christmas that starts earlier each year y'know.
