Mumble... Chunter...

Kids today, I dunno. Mumble... cuss... Anyway it's my Birthday today, I have reached the dizzy (frequently!) heights of thirty-three and I hardly feel any different from when I was twenty five. Mind you, I was knackered all the time then as well, so perhaps that's not a good thing after all. What was I doing when I was 25? Uh... I remember a little Jelly and Ice Cream party at my then girlfriend's, but that's about it.

Prior to my nice long soak in the bath, a friend of ours popped round with a choice piece of Stilton and some cheapo Tesco cheese, as I have a penchant for both. Didn't you know? It's British Cheese Week this week - all week and starting on my Birthday! Could it get any better than this? Actually it could, there were Pork Pies as well. And chocolate.

Breakfast was my all-time favourite of Toasted Tuna sandwiches. Traditionally they're made with either a touch of vinegar or some chopped onion, but M got things slightly wrong and made 'em with both, and pickled onion at that, so they were noticably tangier than usual but none the worse for that. I had these in the garden with a nice coffee and my best girly by my side.

M tells me she has a special present for me, but I can't have it yet.

Phew! Bloated!

One of those. Yes. M finally fessed up to what she'd spent our cash on and it turned out to be a Philishave Quadra Shaver... thing. It looks like a stun gun from Star Trek or something, but feels pretty good in my hand - I'll give it a good run over my fizog later.

The food-themed birthday (I do love my grub) continues with the munching of that cheese, a couple of the (mini) pork pies and so on. The Stilton turned out to be extra mature and was heaven. I'm wondering if I can get away with putting a 'reduced' sticker on it so that I can claim I've got to eat it all today or I'll have to throw it out.

That's a point - how do you tell when Stilton's gone moldy?

Working? On a weekend? With Windows?

Yep, indeedy. I've just collected another PC and the associated stack of CDs for another reformat job. This time it's a 128Mb, 700Mhz athlon that belongs to a Chirpodist friend of M's and it's just generally run down - nothing majorly wrong but a good opportunity to reformat and get it sorted nonetheless.

Interestingly, the machine's owner knows the guy who was meant to be doing our double-glazing and has mentioned the fact that we're pretty p*ssed off with waiting. Hopefully this means we'll hear some news soon. Either a refund or some nice new windows would be great, just as long as we hear something.

WTF?! WTF?!

This PC has the loudest, ugliest-sounding harddrive ever. I am literally cringing as I listen to it rattling away moving files about. Ugh!
