New DVD Player

I finally cashed in on my £69 Pacific 1002 DVD player's price drop by taking it back to Asda and getting a full, unconditional refund. In it's place is the Pacific 1001 at a touch under £38 - how the hell did they get so cheap? The new player is all silver and quite slimline, but lacks the colourful LED display of it's predecessor. Instead it has a horrible huge red LED, but no matter.

And of course, because it's one of those players, it plays VCD, SVCD, DVD, MP3 and JPGs-onna-disc, and can be unlocked by turning it on and then pressing Open, Clear, 1, 3, 6, 9, 0 and then Close on the remote.

We buy from Asda because they offer a no-hassle 3 year warranty on TVs, VCRs and DVD players. If you get fed up with your unit at any point within this period you can take it back for a full refund of the purchase price, which makes buying from Asda more like borrowing. I think I might take this one back when the batteries in the remote run out.

Dude, where's my Double Glazing?

Amazingly we are still waiting to hear from the double glazing company. They've taken our £400 and seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth. There's a stack of unopened mail at the office together with a note on the door saying 'closed until further notice due to illness'

Sadly, we've been in touch with Trading Standards and they tell us they've heard a rumour that the company (who shall remain nameless until we hear something either way) has gone bust. We'll be immensely pissed off if this is the case, but we've got to wait and see.

Lotto Daily Play

Yep, you can now play the Daily Play lotto on my Lotto site. I've seemingly managed to incorporate the new 7-from-27 draw into the database without too many problems - the main bit I guess was correcting the limitations of the comparison routines which check your own numbers against the draw results, and the interaction with the database, which had to be changed slightly to accommodate an extra (non-bonus) ball.

It's all up and running online now, with the exception that you can't enter or check lines until the first draw has passed. There's no reason for this other than the fact that I can't be bothered to correct the error that crops up when you try to compare your tickets against a draw that hasn't happened yet - it's just easier not to have that draw available.

Oh.. better do the rules file for that one actually.

Got a Peugeot 206cc?

Check out Lyndon's Peugeot 206cc Owner's Website for pix and info on this distinctively cute and sexy little number. I've been offering him some tips on promotion and keywords and the like to see if we can't get it a touch higher up the search results.

Busy busy!

Y'know, considering it's Sunday today, this is an awful lot of blogging goin on.

This afternoon I've been renumbering the invoices for the business after the accountant pointed out that I was running the risk of being accused of cheating simply because I had numbered them based on the date rather than sequentially. So I've renumbered them sequentially. Not too many to do but it's a pain in the posterior nonetheless.
