The Big Backup
22:12.07 - Friday 15th August 2003 (Link to This Entry)
Yes folks, Windows has gotten to the point where it annoys me to use it, and so I'm currently copying everything across from the laptop to the desktop ready to back it all up onto DVD-RW. Currently the most annoying problems with Windows are...
- Language/Font packs take an age to load.
- File requester dialogue takes ages on the first read.
- MS Office file requester disappears to back.
- 2000 fonts installed, which drives Photoshop nuts.
- General untidyness and redundant file scattering.
Worm Watch
22:21.58 - Friday 15th August 2003 (Link to This Entry)
If the number of visitors to msblast.cjb.net is anything to go by then the W32.Blaster.Worm is is doing the rounds as actively as ever. At the time of typing there have been 359 hits so far today with 90-odd minutes left, compared with 348 for the whole 24 hours yesterday.
Interestingly, more of those are non-referred 80 and 81 (NTL and Pipex) IP addresses which seems to indicate that BlastBack is doing it's job and getting people to visit the site. Hopefully we should see a steady decline in visitor numbers over the next month or so.
The House is Up!
22:25.32 - Friday 15th August 2003 (Link to This Entry)
Went onto a local Estate Agency site to show a friend the house that we looked at the other day and - lo and behold - our house is on there as well. There are a few details that need changing (new windows in a couple of weeks, for example) but on the whole it's good.
Once or twice this week I've seen cars pull up over the road. Generally someone in the passenger seat hastily glances at the house and scribbled something down, then the car drives away. Up until now I was feeling quite paranoid.
