MasterBlaster is go!

Slight homage to one of the Mad Max films with the app name, MasterBlaster listens for connections on the port of your choice and sends Net Send messages back to anyone trying to connect. The idea is that you use your router firewall to move incomming port 135 TCP connection requests to port 10000 (or whatever) so that they don't interfere with LAN traffic, and respond to connection attempts with the message of your choice.
As I type I am seeing connections coming in on 135/10000. Each one sparks a Net Send message along the lines of:
- "You appear to be infected with the W32.Blaster.Worm - please
visit http://msblast.cjb.net/ for further info".
Slow day...

I'm having one of BB's favourite days today, whereby I can't be bothered to get anything done. I start something, continue for a few minutes, and then just tail off in complete apathy. After rushing round getting the house in order yesterday I seem to have no energy or enthusiasm left for today. Meh.
Another new laptop...

Another machine just arrived for me to update and generally play with, although with it being XP I prolly won't play with it that much. It's a 2.2Ghz Compaq... something. Pretty nice, with the new silver/grey paint job that seems so popular these days and - gasp! - purple LEDs! Wow, maaaan!I'm in the process of going through Windows Update and, of course, that's really really chugging now as they experience some W32.Blaster-related 'technical difficulties'. I think it's that panic-driven DDoS attack I mentioned yesterday, already in full effect. Thankfully the downloading has finished and it's now installing, but there are still drivers and other updates to do.
Anti-Blaster Software Release

You can now get the wee proglet that BB and I created from his site, here. Have a read of the docs. Please don't run it on an unpatched system - that would be a little bit silly. Heh.
Oh dear...

Poor old WindowsUpdate is taking a battering, seemingly. After several page-fails I've finally succeeded in getting the second batch of patches and updates downloading, but the site itself is still slow. This is odd, as I appear to be getting 100k/sec on the downloads themselves - go figure.
Of course, this doesn't include MediaPlayer 9 or DirectX 9, so I've still got those - and the associated patches - to come. It's all good fun, innit?
