Printer Palaver

Hehey, guess who had another new printer, despite buying one just a few months ago, and putting a new ink cartridge in it at the end of May? Why that's right! It was us! Fed up with his life and the way things are going he decides to rob a liquor store take the printer back to Staples with some half-baked excuse about it not printing. In actual fact it was drinking ink faster than I drink Tesco Cola, so rather than spend another good £30 on carts, we just went back and swapped the printer.

For this innings we've gone back to HP and chosen the DeskJet 3820 (Amazon link) on the grounds that it's so cheap that we can get the 3-year warranty for just £5 extra once we were refunded the cost of the Epson. It's devilishly quiet at printing and pretty quick too, but things got off to a less-than-auspicious start when it chewed the very first piece of paper I fed it, necessitating a partial dismantling to extract the shreds from deep within its bowels.

It's all set up nicely, including being installed twice on my laptop, as I have it installed both as a local, USB printer and as a Network printer. We'll have to see how things go with this one. Print quality is acceptable, all that remains now is to see how quickly it can drink the ink.
