Yeah, I'm still up...

The heat is horrible, it's just gone midnight (no matter what the server time says) and I'm still up trying to catch an eBay auction for City of the Lost Children that finishes in just over one hour. I've just done on of the saddest, but ultimately satisfying things a webbie can do, which is reorganise my IE Favourites, and I've still got to sit and wait.

Earlier today I was putting my new-found PHP knowledge to the test, helping BB out with a bit of page-redirection he was struggling with for a site. I confess that it was all my fault, as he hadn't actually considered putting in the page redirection stuff anyway until I mentioned it, but we got there in the end.

Only 59 minutes to go.

Daniel is slowly finding all the things that are wrong with the new place he's moved into. From a crap aerial in the front room, then a wasps nest close by on the adjoining house and finally a leaky aerial in his room (which he only found after it rained, and killed his TV), why it reminds me so much of some of the places I've lived. Aaaah, the memories of collecting the slugs off the walls and chucking them - wrapped in tissue because they make me barf - as far as I could. Memories.

Crapping hell, 56 minutes to go. Sheesh!

I didn't get to do any of my own PHP programming today but I did get a fair bit of reading done, and it turns out Sessions and Cookies are just as easy as I suspected they would be. True, some of the database handling in PHP is a little... convoluted, but other stuff more than makes up for it. I think I'm gonna like it.

That's it, I'm outta here!

We've been given the use of a house in Spain for the week after my birthday, and so M has been looking up prices for flights on the Intarweb. Previously we were looking at around £190 for the both of us but last night she managed to find two return flights from Birmingham to Murcia (short taxi-ride from the house) for £100 including taxes from MyTravelLite.com - talk about Strike it Lucky!

Amazingly, it appears I may have the 'International Option' on my T-Mobile account by default because it's a business account. At least I assume it's a business account - it's listed as 'Small Ltd/Plc' which is about as businessy as you can get. If so, this means I can receive calls in Spain for 20p a minute, rather than the 70p everyone else pays. It's also free to text me, but it costs me 40p to text back. Bah.

We've already tracked down some insurance at £21 for the pair of us, plus we've opted to drive to Birmingham and park there, which will set us back roughly another £60. Add in £100 for food/fares (we're only there to laze on the beach, after all) and we're looking at a sub-£300 holiday for two in the sun. Gawd bless teh intarweb!
