Film Night

I finally got round to watching the copy of Being John Malkovich that my brother bought me a couple of birthdays ago. I'm suprised that I hadn't sold it at a car boot sale or something, and I'm glad I didn't because it's a truly bizarre film that's well worth a repeat viewing just in case it makes any more sense the second time around.

I also caught the end of Mad Max 2. The thing about setting a film in a post-apocalyptic Australian outback is... well... what's the difference? How could anybody actually tell? Isn't it like that anyway? And how come the roads are still in such good order?

Update Time

I dunno, you wait all week for a Windows Critical Update, then three come along at once: IE6 Cumulative Patch; OE6 SP1 Security Update and a WindowsUpdate Device Driver fix. Interestingly (and I'm translating here) this last one is necessary because MS have patched Windows2000 so often that you might now be unable to get the latest device drivers. Sheesh!

Oh, the Irony!

Fixed a bug in this page - it wasn't recording how often the page had been loaded. Now it does. Huzzah! (Just shut up, you).

Another problem fixed - I really ought to have a premium rate phoneline for this you know :o) This time it appears that Karoo Internet (Kingston Communications in Hull, I think) isn't resolving domain names properly for POP3 email access. The lady in question couldn't collect email from our server, and so I talked her through entering the IP instead of using mail.blah.blah.bling and so on - problem solved!

Bloody hell - I fired up the Scumputer just now to start getting it sorted and... it works! Everything's working! Nothing exploded! Granted I just got a BSOD during the Win98 install but you can't have everything - it appears to have a half-finished install on there already so I really ought to scrub that off.

Hmmm.. seems I get the BSOD every time I start the 'Find New Hardware Wizard' - definately gonna have to scrub it.
